Joy Hutchinson (Laird)

     Marian “Joy” (Hutchinson) Laird, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away, in her home, on Friday, April 11th, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. She was born, in Huntington, West Virginia, on February 7, 1941, to the late Carroll and Gladys (Ray) Hutchinson.

    Joy attended Marshall University, as well as Ringling School of Art, in Sarasota Florida (now named Ringling College of Art & Design). She was a long-time resident of Southport, where she retired from Chase Bank and later Huntington Bank. Having a deep affection for nature, Joy was an avid flower gardener, loved traveling & hiking, and grew African Violets. She also enjoyed reading, music, theatre, and art.

     She is survived by her daughters, Heather (Matt) Fuller, Tamara (John Petty) Laird, Shawna Patterson; her nieces, Lynn Sanner, Laura Hutchinson; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

     Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carroll Ray Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Rosemary Hutchinson; and her dear friend and companion, Richard Hawley.

She graduated from Huntington (WV) High School in 1959 where she enjoyed participating in Art Club activities with her many friends.

 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date
