William“Bill” Ruarmassell Harman passed away on January 4, 2025 in Lexington, KY. He was born on December 30, 1941 in Pikeville, Ky. to Russell and Geneva Clark Harman. Early years were spent in a coal mining camp in David, Ky. He then moved to Huntington, WV in the third grade. He attended Huntington High School, graduating in 1959. Bill was on the team that competed in the state championship. He attended Marshall University with a major in Business.
Bill graduated in 1963. He was involved in ROTC as a Second Lieutenant, member of SAE fraternity, and on the baseball team. He was in the 82nd Airborne, at Ft. Bragg, N.C. Bill married Lillian Dalma, and has two daughters, Beth and Carla. He moved to New York City and worked for Chemical Bank. He then worked at Hayden Stone, where he concentrated on REITs.
He was CEO at CNA Larwin Investment Company , headquartered in Encino, CA. Here is where he met his future bride, Carol, married in 1977, and lived in San Diego, CA bfore returning to Kentucky, where he began his career in commercial real estate as a "small time syndicator." In 2011 he retired , moving to Kiauea, HI, returning to Kentucky in 2017. Recently, Bill enjoyed gardening, sharing the bounty with others, and woodworking.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Carol Harman of 47 years, two loving daughters Beth (Ted) Puchalski, Richmond, VA, and Carla (Louis) La Fratta, of Kilauea, HI., sisters Roslyn (John) Dial, Mexico, MO, and Dr. Elizabeth Ann Harman, Archer, FL, nephew Chris Dial, and grandchildren Lauren Puchalski, Nicholas Puchalski, Gabrielle La Fratta, and Dominic LaFratta, and a special cousin, Mary Wells Walton. Visitation at Milward Funeral Directors on Trent Blvd, and Man o War, Thursday, January 9th, at 4PM. Burial in Mt. Sterling, KY in Macpelah Cemetery.
