Patsy Dailey Burns
Patsy Arlene Dailey Burns, 82, of Fredericksburg, Virginia died on March 21, 2024, peacefully in her sleep. Patsy was born on May 31, 1941, in Huntington, West Virginia to Ilene and Victor Daily, and raised by her mother and stepfather, Harold Nicholas. Patsy graduated from Huntington High School and went on to Marshall University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. It was there that she met her husband, Michael Burns, who was then a Captain in the U.S. Army, and they were married on August 16, 1964. Over the next fifteen years Michael's army career took them to various states and countries. Of all the places they lived, for Patsy, the year's spent in the Netherlands as an officer's wife and mother of four were her favorite. Later in life, Patsy entered the work force in the printing industry, her last role was as the Director of Legal Publishing for a Washington, D.C. based company. In her free time Patsy loved to read, garden, and spend time with her grandkids.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Michael M. Burns; her parents, Ilene and Harold Nicholas; and her sister, Peggy Cheatham.She is survived by her children, Judy Glavin, Richard Burns, Chris Burns, and Michelle O'Neill as well as seventeen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Quantico National Cemetery on March 27, 2024.
