In Memory

Sandra O'Shea (Wells)

Sandra (Sandy) O’Shea Wells passed away February 9, 2019 in Charleston, WV where she had resided for more than 50 years. Sandy was born in Huntington on January 8, 1942, daughter of Harold and Lois O’Shea. Sandra was married to Danny Wells, former sportswriter for The Charleston Gazette and state legislator. For the past several years her companion was Jack Knight of Charleston. Sandy is survived by her twin sister, Sherry O’Shea Wallace, a son, Shannon, and a daughter, Shea.

After graduating from Marshall University, Sandy was a columnist and writer for The Charleston Gazette for more than half a century. Her column, “Innerviews”, received praise from the paper’s editors and from the public.  Of course we must point out that she actually began her career as a writer as a reporter for our Huntington High School newspaper, “The Tatler.”

Sandy began her formal education at Meadows Elementary, moving on to Cammack Junior High and then to HHS where she graduated in 1959.

A memorial service for Sandy was scheduled for February 13 at the Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home in Charleston. Sandy had one last surprise, she invited her classmates and other friends to gather after her memorial service at a local restaurant “for music and entertainment.”
