Alan Wilcox


Alan Harley Wilcox, 75, of Huntington, WV, widower of Sharon Kay Wilcox, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Keith Wiebe, Jr. officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 and Firefighter Honors will be conducted by the Huntington Fire Department.  He was born October 3, 1941 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Chester Wilcox and Recie Mae Wilson Jackson. Alan grew up in the West End and attended Monroe Elementary and West Junior High School. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1959.

 

He was a retired Firefighter for the City of Huntington; was a U.S. Army veteran; and was a member of Grace Gospel Church. Survivors include: his son, Chad Alan Wilcox of Huntington; a step sister, Glenna Lovins; a step brother, Jeffrey Glen Jackson; a sister-in-law, Beverly (Herb) Webb; a brother-in-law, Jim (Connie) Barber; a former sister-in-law, Donna (J.D.) Wolford; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Phillip Sperry and family. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington and his caregivers, Cindy Adkins, Tena Kirk, and Petina Vasquez, for their loving care.
