Sue and Don Gunter

Our classmate Sue Johnson Gunter passed away May 29, 2017 after undergoing heart surgery. We remember Sue as one of HHS Majorettes, a member of the Dramatic Club and the annual Huntingtonian staff.    Note that condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcleanfuneral.com.  Here is Sue's obituary:

BELMONT, NC  - Susan Johnson Gunter, 75, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017.

Born on Sept. 26, 1941 in Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Soden Bias Johnson and Estelle Lilly Brown Johnson.

Mrs. Gunter graduated from Huntington High School and attended Huntington School of Business. For 26 years, she was employed with Eastern Airlines and for 24 years, served as Property Manager for Chapel Oaks Townhomes in Lee Summit, MO. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her step-father, Ogle "Oggie" Harrison.

Mrs. Gunter is survived by her husband, Don M. Gunter; step-daughters, Donna Gunter Brackett and Teresa Gunter Walters; grandchildren, Jordan Brackett Carter, Lauren Brackett, Alexandra Walters, Aaron Walters and Hannah Walters; as well as many special friends and neighbors in Kansas City, MO

Family and friends of Mrs. Gunter are invited to attend her memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. Friday in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Rev. Buck Harper will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.

The Gunter family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Gaston County Humane Society, 114 Sherrill Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.
