Our Huntington High School Class of 1959 classmate Judith Crummett Burnside Peoples, 75, died November 5th, 2016 concluding a fourteen year battle with cancer. Judith lived in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Dr. Peoples was born March 29, 1941, in Charlottesville, VA., and grew up in Clifton Forge and Huntington. She attended the College of William and Mary and later graduated from Old Dominion University. Dr. Peoples later received her PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute at Blacksburg in 1982. She taught at West Virginia University Medical School in Charleston in the Department of Clinical Psychology. Moving to Louisville in 1984, she built a vibrant private practice specializing in eating disorders.

After being diagnosed with cancer, she became an avid single shell rower as a member of The Louisville Rowing Club at Harrods Creek. Her Rowing Sisters enjoyed her lively spirit and enthusiasm.

In 2010, she was recognized by the Kentucky Psychological Association with the Jack Runyon Community Service Award for "her personal and professional commitment to her community and the Commonwealth."

Dr. Peoples served on the Episcopal Church's Commission on Ministry of the Diocese of West Virginia and Diocese of Kentucky. In the Kentucky diocese she was both a member of that body and its chair.

She married The Rev. Moray Peoples in 1977 and together they blended their families; Christopher Stephen Burnside (Kimberly), Laura Ann Burnside Cook (Dr. Brian), Christopher Moray Peoples (Ann) and Sarah Martin Peoples Trimble (The Rev. James). A niece, Lisa Dustin, and nephew Benjamin, later joined the family.

Grandchildren include Ella, Ashlyn, William and Avarose Burnside; Devin Bryant; Charlie and Chloe Cook, Riley Trimble, Julia and Allison Peoples. 

There will be a visitation at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Louisville on Saturday, November 19 from 9:00-10:30 a.m., with the funeral following at 11:00 am. 

At her death she was a resident of the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville and was attended there by a gracious and caring staff.
